FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Boy Scout Program June 16th,17th,18th 2010Hi,
my school is called Let’s Go
Sailing, (we are in
American sailing Association certified school) early this year we were contacted
by a scoutmaster from the Dallas-Fort Worth area, wanting to offer a sailing
program for group of his Boy Scouts. After
some discussion about whether not they would like just a familiarization sailing
day or more involved program that would get them American Sailing Association
certification. They elected to go for the certification program. At first the
discussion was for eight to maybe 12 Scouts including the scoutmasters. As time
went by the number grew, then all of a sudden we found that we were going to
need training facilities and boats for 24 students at 18 Scouts and six
scoutmasters. Now our sailing school is small we rarely put more than 4 to 8
students on the water at the same time, this requires two boats and two
instructors. (We never put more than four students to a boat) now comes the
problem this is going to require six instructors six boats and the ability to
handle 24 students all on the same day. WOW
getting competing businesses to cooperate is not always an easy task but
after some discussion, John Coggin of Lakeside sailing agreed to provide a boat
and an instructor, and Lucy Newman at South Coast sailing
agreed to provide three boats and three instructors we of course provide are two
boats and two instructors. This is all going to come together on the 16th
17th and 18th of June 2010. Will be holding the classroom
session of American sailing Association basic keelboat (sailing 101) at our
classroom at Lewis

It's
a real pleasure for me to be able to get three schools that are basically
competitors in the same area to cooperate and eagerly work together to cause a
program like this to happen. It will be as important an experience for the
schools that cooperate as it will be for the Boy Scouts who get the enjoyment of
learning how to sail. The
boats at these boys will be training, are not your little sunfish or other boats
of that size. They'll be training on keelboats in the 23 ft. to 26 ft. range.
These boats are capable handling a more advanced sailing environment (i.e. more
wind and waves).
